Eating and cooking in autumn

Nights are getting longer and temperatures start dropping. We’re not yet at the freezing cold of Winter, but the exhausting heat of Summer is also gone.
Personally, Autumn is my favourite season of the year, especially the time just following the Autumn Equinox when the sun is still shining but the days become crispy and fresh.

Tips to get started with foraging

Foraging is a fun and useful hobby to have. You get to spend time in nature, learn about how plants, and you get free food out of it too.
I have been learning about foraging for several years with my children, but I am still far from being an expert! These are just some of the main things you need to know before you set on your first foraging adventure.
Make sure you check local foraging resources before you head out and eat anything.

What is folklore and why is it important

You will probably have heard of folktales or traditional stories. They are usually about real life events or imaginary creatures who live in nature. But they are not all that folklore is about.
Folklore encompases all the traditional beliefs, customs, tales, dances and sayings of a group of people. It’s passed down through generations and is often handed down orally.

Another photo mini digital scrapbook. I really like these. As with the previous one dedicated to daffodils, these are a simple way to appreciate the little things.
Feel free to use them as inspiration for creating something if you feel inspired to. Otherwise, just enjoy the photos themselves.

Eating and cooking in spring

Flowers, cool breeze, butterflies, more flowers, and for the unlucky: seasonal allergies! Spring is here and that means food is changing. Gone are the heavy stews that kept us warm through winter and fresh salads start to slowly creep in.
Even though the thought of Spring usually brings to mind fields of flowers and green shoots, the amount of fruit and vegetables available is not a lot. Flowers haven’t yet turned to fruit and most of those green shoots are not yet ready to be picked, but there are some interesting things around.
